My NFL Films internship has been a dream come true. My goals were to network with everyone I could, find a mentor, and create content I could be proud of and take from Films. I achieved all three.

RTF Student · NFL Films · Mount Laurel, NJ

If you had asked me on my first day if I'd expect to get hired as a morning show producer and on-air DJ at the radio station I listened to as a child — I wouldn't have believed you. They took a chance on me before I even graduated.

RTF Alum · 93.3 WMMR · Philadelphia (hired after internship)

It is now almost May and I can say that this internship has been one of the best growth experiences for me since starting college. I have learned invaluable skills and how to carry myself as a professional.

RTF Student · All That's Good Production Company · Philadelphia

Little did I know that all of those expectations would not only be met, but far exceeded. In this time, I not only sharpened my skills, but strengthened my mind in a way where I could continue to overcome challenges on a larger scale.

RTF Student · 6abc WPVI · Philadelphia

My time with the Delaware Blue Coats was something I will never forget. I got to see exactly what ESPN-level production looks like from the inside — switchers, cameras, audio rigs. Everything clicked.

RTF Student · Delaware Blue Coats (NBA G-League) · Wilmington, DE

Overall, this internship has taught me a lot about working in a professional setting and ultimately makes me so much more confident to go out into the real world and show them what I've got.

RTF Student · Internship Reflection Paper

Despite being just an intern, I knew from day one that this would be a place I wanted to make a career for myself. My college career is coming to an end, and they want me to stick around and help produce their content.

RTF Student · All That's Good Production Company · Philadelphia

I learned that getting an internship earlier in college rather than later is a smart decision — it helps you learn quicker, gain more connections, and open doors you didn't even know existed yet.

RTF Student · Expressway Cinema Rentals · Philadelphia

Every game, I learned new skills, new work ethics, new ways to be efficient, and more about how MLB works. It also helped me build and expand my network in ways I hadn't anticipated going in.

RTF Student · Philadelphia Phillies / Phanavision · Citizens Bank Park

This internship and my experiences covering live events taught me to double down on skills I was building at Rowan — and then I was teaching colleagues back on campus what I'd learned in the field.

RTF Student · Live Event Production Internship

The networking aspect is very good — everyone at All That's Good has connections with people that are definitely good to know, and I think this could help me in my future if I ever get in a rut.

RTF Student · All That's Good Production Company · Philadelphia

Many times in this internship I was told I was going down the right path, and every time I heard that it encouraged me to be better, to do more, and to learn as much as humanly possible.

RTF Student · Production Internship Reflection

This internship transpired tremendous growth both professionally and personally. I got to network with producers, DPs, gaffers, actors, and crew members across different production roles.

RTF Student · Video Production Company Internship

Without this internship, I feel I still would've been wondering how to get experience in my industry. I think this allowed me to better myself and my skills — while also being something to put on my resume.

How to land and complete your internship

From your first conversation to your final portfolio — here's the full roadmap.

01

Define your goals and constraints

Where do you want to work — Philadelphia, South Jersey, NYC? What field? Film production, news, audio, social media? Be honest about your schedule and transportation. These decisions shape everything else.

02

Update your resume and reel

Your resume should highlight your strongest projects, technical skills (Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, Avid), and relevant coursework. The Edelman College Center for Professional Success offers resume support and feedback.

03

Talk to the RTF Internship Coordinator

Before you search, make an appointment. The coordinator can confirm your eligibility, connect you with companies that have expressed interest in Rowan students, and help you avoid common mistakes. Reach out to nicolae@rowan.edu.

04

Search and apply

Use this hub, LinkedIn, Handshake, and the company websites listed here. Talk to seniors who have interned. Research the company before applying — know what they make and why you want to work there.

05

Nail your interview

Many internships involve multiple rounds. Be professional, be specific about your skills, and come with two or three portfolio examples ready to discuss. Remember — you are representing Rowan RTF.

06

Register for academic credit

Once you have an accepted offer, complete the Application Form and submit it to the coordinator. They will help you enroll in the internship course. Do not start your internship before completing this step.

Prerequisites & Requirements

You must satisfy these requirements before your internship can be registered for academic credit. Check in with your advisor if you're unsure where you stand.

General Requirements

  • Active RTF major at Rowan University
  • 75 or more earned credit hours
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA overall
  • Accepted an internship offer from an approved organization
  • Completed and submitted the Internship Approval Form

Production Specialization Track

  • Applied Media Aesthetics (completed or currently enrolled)
  • Film Production I (completed or currently enrolled)
  • Television Production (completed or currently enrolled)
  • Foundations of Media Production

Critical Studies Track

  • College Composition I
  • College Composition II
  • Applied Media Aesthetics
  • Non-production internship site approved by coordinator

Credit Options

  • 3 credits = 120 internship hours (one semester)
  • 6 credits = 240 internship hours (full semester or two terms)
  • Summer, fall, and spring semesters all eligible
  • Remote and hybrid internships may qualify — ask coordinator
Exception policy: In rare cases, internships may be approved without all prerequisites with sign-off from your Faculty Advisor, the Internship Coordinator, and the internship site. Reach out early if you have questions about your eligibility — don't assume you're not ready.

What's required to earn your grade

Your internship cohort does not meet as a class, but you have four graded components beyond your on-site work.

Component Weight Description
Daily Log 10% A typed, detailed daily log covering all 120 or 240 hours of your internship. Record what you did, learned, and observed each day.
Reflection Paper 30% A 4–5 page paper describing your internship in detail: your experience, the value of the placement, skills developed, and honest thoughts on how the experience could improve.
Portfolio 20% A portfolio of work produced during your internship — video, audio, scripts, web pages, social posts, or other deliverables. Examples are available from the coordinator.
Supervisor Evaluation 40% Your internship supervisor will be contacted for a confidential evaluation of your performance. This is the highest-weighted component — your professionalism at the internship site matters.

Your first step is a conversation

Email the RTF Internship Coordinator to make an appointment, confirm your eligibility, and get pointed toward organizations that are actively looking for Rowan students.
